Those titles alone would be enough to declare it a packed summer. Look no further than 2022’s summer TV season, home to multiple highly anticipated series returns ( Only Murders in the Building, Stranger Things, the final stretch of Better Call Saul), and two of the most breathlessly promoted new shows in recent memory ( Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon and Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power).
The season used to be associated with game shows, off-season network experiments, and, most of all, reruns it was a time for the schedule and viewers alike to catch their collective breath before fall TV swooped in with its flashy premieres.
